Janis Ian presents “Breaking Silence” film and Q & A at Women in the Arts Festival
Friday night of WITA, Janis will be appearing, in-person, at the screening of the new documentary, Janis Ian: Breaking Silence. She will take part in a special question and answer event after the screening.
During the 1960s, as a teenager, acclaimed American singer-songwriter Janis Ian used to jam with Jimi Hendrix in Greenwich Village bars and partied with Janis Joplin, who jokingly called herself “the other Janis.”
Janis Ian had one of the most remarkable debuts in modern music history. At the age of 13, she began performing her original songs at New York City gigs alongside future legends. From there, the precocious teenager turned fearless singer-songwriter built a career with many chapters—winning Grammys while navigating personal and professional highs and lows—in a remarkable trajectory now entering its fifth decade.
