TEN STRINGS & A GOAT SKIN, a young bilingual trad/folk/fusion trio celebrating the music of the Irish, Acadian, French & Maritime cultures, is known for a rare musicality that belies the musicians ages. Integrating modern & world rhythms with traditional & original tunes, they create a fiery, contagious & unique sound that is increasingly catching the attention of international audiences.
With a background of classical training mixed with a youthful & innovative perspective, their electrifying instrumentals breathe fresh life into traditional arrangements & their strong vocal harmonies invite audiences to sing along.
Awarded MUSIC PEI’s 2012 Roots Traditional Recording of the Year, nominated for 2012 ECMA Roots Traditional Group Recording of the Year and MPEI 2013 Spincount Touring Artist of the Year for their debut album, “Tri”, they continue to make waves with the recent launch of their bilingual CD “Corbeau” (produced by Lennie Gallant) and a lengthy touring resume which includes the premier maritime folk festivals & showcases.
With humour and seemingly ceaseless energy, Jesse Périard, Rowen and Caleb Gallant ignite onstage as Ten Strings And A Goat Skin.
“…the young trio has steadily made a huge name all over the Maritimes over the past two years and has seemingly played absolutely everywhere,….this on-fire fiddle/guitar/percussion trio have harnessed a traditional spirit between them that is completely intoxicating, playing everything from French to Irish to even Gypsy music. You just never know where their ceaseless energy will take you next.” – Todd Maclean – The Guardian
