Twyla Birdsong
Lansing's Twyla Birdsong has put together a program of favorites, entitled "Don't Waste Time," accompanied by some of Mid-Michigan's finest musicians.

Twyla Birdsong is a powerhouse vocalist whose soulful performances transcend genres and stir the soul. With deep roots in jazz, blues, R&B, and gospel, Twyla has spent years honing her craft in Lansing’s vibrant local scene—gracing the stages of churches, bars, parks, and theaters with her unmistakable voice and magnetic stage presence.
Her love for music runs deep, but it’s the blues and gospel that truly fuel her spirit. “I love to sing the blues because it’s raw and real, but I also love gospel—it reminds me of the hope my faith brings me,” she says. Whether she’s belting a gritty blues tune or delivering a soaring gospel ballad, Twyla’s goal is simple but profound: to recharge and uplift every person in the audience, if only for a few hours.
A seasoned theatrical performer as well, Twyla has starred in multiple local musical productions, bringing the same emotional depth and commanding presence to the stage as she does in concert. Her rich, deep tone and the emotional honesty in her delivery captivate audiences time and time again.
Twyla is also a two-time Capital Area Blues Challenge winner—earning top honors in both the band and duo categories. With passion, power, and presence, she continues to create a sound of her own and show up as an “Ambassador Of Love”.
