Singer-songwriter Deidre McCalla, the "dreadlocked troubadour" celebrates the power and diversity of the human spirit.

Deidre McCalla doesn’t merely take the stage – she owns it.
Deidre – a Black woman, mother, lesbian, feminist – has long been in the forefront of Black musicians rewiring perception of how Black folk do folk. Deidre McCalla’s 2022 release, ENDLESS GRACE, her fifth independent album, is the bold statement of an artist confidently claiming her place in the world and relentlessly affirming the power and diversity of the human spirit. In its debut month of release ENDLESS GRACE topped the June FAI Folk Radio Chart as the #1 Album with the #1 Song Shoulder To The Wheel and #3 Song I Do Not Walk This Path Alone, and with Deidre McCalla as the #2 Top Artist right behind the legendary Tom Paxton.

In 2021 Deidre McCalla received a SERFA Award from the Southeast Regional Folk Alliance for distinguished service and exceptional contributions to folk music in the Southeast region of Folk Alliance International. Sing Out Magazine lauded her CD PLAYING FOR KEEPS, as a work of “power, conviction and grace.”

Her first Olivia Records album DON’T DOUBT IT is listed as one of 25 Classic Women’s Music Albums by Ms Magazine.
