“Clever prose mixes with succinct, stylized arrangements to make for a fun listening experience that delights in storytelling with a quirky charm that is entirely their own… [L]istening to this record feels like a burst of dopamine.”
Dutcher Snedeker, Local Spins album review
“The Dangling Participles have a knack for composing catchy, thoughtful and eclectic songs — tunes with real merit. The Dang Ps consistently offer fun and creative songwriting across a multitude of genres, and bring great energy to the stage as well.”
Dylan Rogers, Director, The Robin Theatre
Tamiko Rothhorn and Austin Kaufmann comprise the creative duo at the heart of Lansing’s own indie folk darlings, The Dangling Participles. Their performances feature spirited duets, storied lyrics, soulful harmonies, and vibrant folk-jazz instrumentation, with Kaufmann anchoring the pair on guitar and Rothhorn adding cornet and ukulele. Songwriters both, they draw deep from the wells of literature, art, family, and relationships to pen songs evoking the breadth of human experience. Reviewers have praised their album One More Drop (2022) for its authenticity and warmth, adding, “Listening to this record feels like a burst of dopamine.”

Southeast Michigan natives Dave Boutette & Kristi Lynn Davis have found the magic that happens when two voices share a melody. Kristi’s natural gift for harmony has instantly brought new life to Dave’s celebrated catalog of songs, as is evidenced on their releases Easy as Pie (2018) and Seven Stars Around the Moon (2020).
Dave & Kristi’s music is a blend of many schools of American roots and popular music including folk, blues, swing, and old time country. The lyrics testify to the power of true love, rebirth, coffee, and even migrating fish.
“Dave and Kristi are what we all need in these challenging times… Irrepressible verve and joy. These are exceptionally fine songs delivered with authentic voices, stellar musicianship, and great production.” — Daniel Bracken, Wheatland Music Org, Programming Committee
Close and comforting, Kristi’s voice slips in beside Dave’s, creating a smooth and easy pairing. In addition their performances have been augmented by her charming stage presence and quick wit.
Together Dave and Kristi have performed at music festivals, listening rooms, and brewpubs from the Porcupine Mountains in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula all the way down to Oberlin, Ohio.
