SUMMARY:Futuretime String Band and Super Secret Cult Band: Twin Bill
DESCRIPTION:Co-produced with Robin Theatre. BYOB from Sleepwalker\, next door to The Robin\, is allowed at this show! \nA seasonal co-bill with two otherworldly folk acts! Futuretime String Band (from the future and Grand Rapids) and Super Secret Cult Band (mysterious doo-wop sect from Lansing) promise a fun and weird time – and really good music! \nFuturetime String Band\nFuturetime String Band approaches styles like Bluegrass\, Oldtime\, and Irish music with a lens from the future. They aim to create a new sound that comes from beyond our time and space\, while also following through on their mission to continue to uplift traditional folk music into the future. This paradoxical experience is the stage act: Futuretime String Band. Their music features Keala Venema (fiddle\, guitar\, vocals) and Lino Venema (guitar\, flute\, vocals\, and occasionally traditional Japanese instrument Shamisen)\, the duo is award winning in an Irish music competition\, the Midwest Fleadh\, winning 1st place duo and going to compete in the international All-Ireland Fleadh held in Ireland as well in August 2025.  \n\n\n  \nSuper Secret Cult Band\nSuper Secret Cult Band is a Lovecraftian doo-wop and goth-folk trio from Lansing\, MI. Their highly original performances feature three-part vocal harmonies and acoustic guitar\, and are performed around a single microphone. (Think\, ‘O Brother Where Art Thou’\, but haunted.) The group shares nostalgically poppy songs about the apocalypse\, conspiracy theories and the occult\, whilst clad in black robes (and other costumes that change during the set).
