Ann Reed

Long-time Fiddle-favorite, Minneapolis-based singer / songwriter Ann Reed will share her beautiful songs, and hysterical stories with us.

Ann Reed’s songs move me. I’m not easily moved, having heard a thousand or two songwriters, and her songs go to my heart. Some of them are completely perfect.
– Garrison Keillor

Songwriter, singer, guitarist Ann Reed has been performing and creating community for more than 35 years with her rich, dark-chocolate voice, storytelling from the human experience, and songs that find a permanent place in the heart. Of course some of her songs and stories might end up closer to your funny bone – a little irreverence never hurt anyone. Ann has toured North America coast to coast, doing concerts, clubs, festivals, and she’s met wonderful fans and made friends all along the way.

(Yes, that’s Singing Festival favorite Dan Chouinard at the piano on the You Tube of Ann’s song, “The Fair”. He and Ann are pals and coordinate a Twin Cities monthly sing-along, so be prepared to sing-along with a few songs, as well.)

Those who have heard Ann in concert know she has a knack for telling a good story and will be delighted by her first novel, Citizens of Campbell, a story about a small Iowa town, the unlikely but enduring friendship of two World War II veterans, and the richness that comes from a simple life.

Ann has written and produced two performance pieces: Heroes: A Celebration of Women Who Changed History And Changed Our Lives, which had its debut at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota, March, 2007 and Nothin’ But Class: The Songs of Dorothy Fields, February 2012. Both shows toured throughout Minnesota thanks in part to legacy grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board.

Her next CD, Winter Springs, Summer Falls, is slated for release fall of 2017. It will be Ann’s 22nd recording. (At least we think it is. We’ve lost count.) You may have heard her on countless radio stations across the U.S. or on your very own iPod. Better yet, you may have attended one of Ann’s concerts, where her rich vocals, masterful guitar work, and keen wit are center stage.
